Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be first out at Man United after £50m transfer reveal – pundit

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is not good enough for Man United and will be moved on by new boss Erik ten Hag this summer, according to Kevin Phillips.

The former Sunderland striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 24-year-old’s potential exit could free up much-needed funds for the Dutchman in the transfer market.

Wan-Bissaka, who is contracted until 2024, has failed to nail down his place in the Man United lineup since interim boss Ralf Rangnick succeeded Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November 2021.

As revealed by Football Insider today (23 April), Ten Hag will have a summer transfer budget of just £50million – with mass changes at Old Trafford to be driven by player sales.

Phillips suggested Wan-Bissaka could find himself at the top of the Dutchman’s transfer list during the off-season.

“It’s been really tough for him in the past couple of seasons,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“He’s got lots of important qualities – but is he really up there at that Man United level?

“With the new manager coming in, a new chapter for them – I don’t think he’s a player who can really move with them as they go to the next level.

“I haven’t seen enough from him to suggest that he’s ready to become one of the great Man United right-backs.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a player who gets moved on this summer in order to free up a wage to do business in the transfer window.”

Wan-Bissaka, who is out of contract in 2024, cost Man United a reported £50million in 2019.

He has made 126 appearances for the Old Trafford club.
