Alan Shearer and Kieran Trippier react to Callum Wilson message as Newcastle exit looms

Callum Wilson’s exit from Newcastle looks imminent, and his latest message on social media caught the attention of Kieran Trippier and Alan Shearer.

The 33-year-old has been with the Magpies since 2020, and has scored 47 goals in 110 league games during his five seasons at St James’ Park.

However, it is expected that Wilson will leave Newcastle at the end of his season, with his contract expiring and the club having no plans to renew it.

Eddie Howe’s side are still in the hunt for Champions League football, and they face Everton on the final day of the Premier League.

They currently sit fourth in the table, but are just one point clear of Nottingham Forest in seventh, so they will need a win to confirm their place in the top five.

Wilson seeks new home

Football Insider exclusively revealed that Leeds are lining up a move for Wilson, after their promotion back to the Premier League.

The England international has had an injury-hit season and hasn’t scored a single goal for Newcastle in the league, but could get another chance in the top flight if his switch to Leeds materialises.

However, the striker’s focus is currently on the Magpies’ final game of the season, and he took to Instagram to send fans a message.

Wilson posted a few photos of himself training ahead of the visit of Everton, with the caption: “See you Sunday! Last big push.”

Newcastle legend Alan Shearer liked the post to show his support, as did full-back Kieran Trippier.

Newcastle set for attacking revamp

Football Insider Verdict

With Wilson on his way out, Newcastle have set their sights on Liam Delap, who is being tracked by a number of Premier League clubs.

You could suggest that their pursuit of Delap could hint at Alexander Isak’s exit, as it is unlikely that either would settle for being a second-choice striker.

In reality, the Ipswich man will probably not make the move to the North East and instead opt for one of Manchester United or Chelsea, who are both desperate for a first-choice number nine.

The Magpies may have to be wary of more exits in forward areas though, with Football Insider exclusively revealing that Arne Slot is still interested in bringing Anthony Gordon to Liverpool.

Gordon has impressed during his time at St James’ Park and has broken into the England team over the last few years.
