Former striker and BBC pundit Alan Shearer has claimed that it is looking to be a long, hard season for Newcastle after their Sunday defeat against Huddersfield.
The Magpies fell to a 1-0 loss against the Terriers at the John Smith’s Stadium with a fine goal from midfielder Aaron Mooy proving decisive.
It marked a second Premier League defeat in just two matches for the north east giants and they have been left in 16th place in the table with only goal difference keeping them out of the relegation zone.
Now, Shearer posted on his personal Twitter account on Saturday afternoon that he expects a season of struggle for Newcastle.

Newcastle won the Championship title in the last campaign after suffering relegation in 2016.
Manager Rafa Benitez would have liked to have built on last season’s title-winning squad, but there have been reports throughout the summer that the Spaniard has been frustrated with the club’s lack of in comings.
Now, with just 11 days left of the transfer window left the north east giants may delve further into the market to ensure the club move away from their currently poor placing in the English top-flight.
In other Newcastle news, a Premier League manager could be willing to listen to offers for this Magpies forward target.
