'Already in love', 'best striker ever' – Gunners fans lose their minds as Lacazette scores on his debut

By Harry Sykes

Alexandre Lacazette scored 15 minutes into his debut for Arsenal and Gooners have taken to Twitter to rave about their record new signing.

Lacazette joined from Lyon for £45million and he wasted no time getting on the scoresheet after he came on as a substitute in the friendly game against Sydney FC.

The score was 1-0 to Arsenal after a Per Mertersacker goal and Danny Welbeck had a penalty saved.

Lacazette then slotted home with a very composed finish from an Alex Iwobi pass to double the Gunners lead in a goal that fans will hope to see repeated many times at the Emirates this season.

While Lacazette drew plaudits from all the Arsenal fans – with some going a bit over the top and proclaiming his goal as the best this year and the striker as the best of all time – Theo Walcott came in for criticism for a poor performance.

However, one Arsenal fan noted that Lacazette spent most of his time out on the left wing, only to score as soon as he moved into the middle.

Either way though, it’s a great start for Lacazette and the goal will be a morale builder ahead of a bruising campaign in the Premier League.
