Andy Robertson sends admission to Liverpool fans after Newcastle win Carabao Cup
Andy Robertson sent an honest message to Liverpool fans after their disappointing Carabao Cup final loss to Newcastle.
Having been knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship-strugglers Plymouth, and then exiting the Champions League in the first knockout round at the hands of PSG, the Reds’ focus shifted to the League Cup, with hopes still remaining of completing a double this season.
However, Newcastle began the game in the ascendancy, and capitalised in the 45th minute, thanks to a towering header from Dan Burn.
The Magpies then doubled their lead, through Liverpool transfer target Alexander Isak, and despite a late goal from Federico Chiesa, the fightback began too late, with the Reds were forced to watch on as Newcastle lifted their first major trophy in 70 years.
Andy Robertson tells Liverpool fans ‘still so much to play for’
Following the loss, Robertson posted two photos from the game on his Instagram, captioned: “We have had a lot of good days this season but yesterday was certainly not one of them!
“Second best but we will take the knock and look to come back stronger.
“Best way to do that is everyone sticking TOGETHER.
“Still so much to play for, see you after the break.”

The Scotland international has been a key member of Liverpool’s team nine seasons, since joining from Hull City for £10million [Sky Sports].
However, with performances dipping this season, questions have been raised about Robertson’s future at Anfield, with fans particularly unimpressed with his performances against PSG.
Milos Kerkez has been linked with a move to Liverpool, and the left-back position is one that Slot may look to invest in, in the summer.
Liverpool set for summer of regrets after Carabao Cup final loss
Football Insider Verdict
If you had offered the Premier League title, and nothing else, to Liverpool fans prior to the start of the season, they likely would have been over the moon.
However, as the season draws to a close, its hard not to feel like lifting only the Premier League title may not be a little anticlimactic for the Reds’ fans.
It speaks volumes to the extraordinary first year under Slot’s stewardship, that he has raised the standards and expectations to near unachievable levels.
It is not just the fact that Liverpool are missing out on silverware this season though, it’s also the fact that this may have been the last opportunity to capitalise on the talents of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
With all three players out of contract in the summer, questions will be asked this time next year if the Reds could have achieved more this year.
