Ange Postecoglou already facing Nottingham Forest sack talk as timeline set
Nottingham Forest appointed Ange Postecoglou as a replacement for Nuno Espirito Santo early in September.
Nuno had fallen out with Edu Gaspar at Nottingham Forest, their sporting director, and the decision to sack him shocked many.
Postecoglou has had a dismal start at Nottingham Forest, though, going winless in his first six games in all competitions.
Nottingham Forest’s 3-2 loss to Midtjylland provided a particular sting, with the East Midlands club now facing an uphill battle in the Europa League group phase.

Nottingham Forest issues Ange Postecoglou a deadline to turn results around
As a result of Forest’s poor form under Postecoglou, owner Evangelos Marinakis has issued the Australian with an ultimatum.
The Times have reported that should Forest lose on Sunday away at Newcastle United, the hierarchy at the club will be reviewing Postecoglou’s position over the international break.
The reasoning for this review was reported by The Times’ Charlotte Duncker, who wrote: “The former Tottenham Hotspur head coach has only been in charge for six games.
“But pressure is already building after four defeats and two draws from those matches, in which time Forest have slipped to 17th in the Premier League and been eliminated from the Carabao Cup.
Evangelos Marinakis’ bold managerial call has dragged Nottingham Forest into a relegation battle
12 months prior to Nuno guiding Nottingham Forest to a Europa League place, the Portuguese manager was celebrating keeping Forest in the Premier League by the skin of their teeth.
Fast-forward only five months, and the sacking of Nuno and appointment of Postecoglou has Forest right back where they started.
Ange Postecoglou’s Nottingham Forest record | Scoreline |
Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest | 3-0 |
Swansea City vs Nottingham Forest | 3-2 |
Burnley vs Nottingham Forest | 1-1 |
Real Betis vs Nottingham Forest | 2-2 |
Nottingham Forest vs Sunderland | 0-1 |
Nottingham Forest vs Midtyjlland | 2-3 |
Postecoglou now has Forest just one place above the drop zone, and staring down the barrel of a Europa League exit as results worsen alongside performances.
Marinakis will hope that Postecoglou can turn Forest’s fortunes around despite their poor start, but in his hunt for Europa League glory, the Greek owner may have condemned his side to a relegation battle instead.
