Anthony Gordon: Where Newcastle star will rank among most expensive Premier League sales as agreement struck
Anthony Gordon is set to leave Newcastle United this summer after striking an agreement on personal terms with Bayern Munich.
The German champions are heavily interested in the winger, and are willing to spend big money on bringing him to the Allianz Arena.
Gordon has netted 17 goals across all competitions in a fine individual season for Newcastle, despite the issues the team have faced in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old is expected to travel to the World Cup with England this summer, with any move likely to progress upon his return.
Newcastle transfer chiefs will hope for a smoother process than the one that saw Alexander Isak leave last season.

Former Manchester United scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider last week that Gordon favours a move to Bayern this summer.
The England international is also expected to attract interest from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, but a foreign move may suit the Magpies as well.
| Anthony Gordon | Stats – Premier League 2025-26 (per 90) |
| Goals | 0.30 |
| Expected goals (xG) | 0.44 |
| Expected assists (xA) | 0.17 |
| Chances created | 1.29 |
| Successful dribbles | 1.64 |
| Fouls won | 1.98 |
| Duels won | 4.96 |
Newcastle will be keen not to strengthen a rival, but ultimately, they will hope to extract as much as possible from the winger’s exit.
According to talkSPORT, the named price is £75million or more for Gordon, which would place him just outside of the top 10 most expensive Premier League sales ever.
Isak is not quite at the top of that list, with the striker’s £125m move to Liverpool last season beaten by Philippe Coutinho’s astonishing £146m move to Barcelona from Liverpool in 2018.
Other notable entries include Declan Rice to Arsenal in 2023, Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Real Madrid in 2009, and Harry Maguire’s £80m move to Man United.
If we are focusing on only Premier League sales to foreign clubs, the list narrows. The likes of Eden Hazard and Harry Kane would be on the list, with Gordon slotting in around the sixth-place mark, narrowly beating the fee that saw Luis Suarez join Barcelona in 2014.
Eddie Howe clear on Gordon sale
Gordon has not played a game for Newcastle since early April, missing two through injury but spending the entirety of matches against Brighton and Nottingham Forest on the bench.
An Isak-type situation has been feared with the England international, but there is hope that the Magpies have learned their lesson from last summer.
Speaking after last week’s draw at the City Ground, Howe said: “It was tactical. The team has performed well in Anthony’s absence.
“Obviously, we have gone with a bit more solidity with Joelinton playing wide and one winger the other side just to try and strengthen us defensively, because we weren’t happy with how we were defending.
“Since January, really, we have been disappointed – so a change of structure really. Ant has come back to fitness. He’s training well but, also, I’m looking at the future as well.”
With Howe’s admission, it appears clear that Gordon’s Newcastle career is ticking into its final weeks.
