'Sad day', 'I'm done' – Arsenal fans fume at latest transfer development
Arsenal fans are not happy at the news that they’re the favourites to sign West Brom defender Jonny Evans from West Brom.
The Times claim that Arsenal have gone back in for Evans after being linked to him in the summer and face competition from league leaders Man City.
However, the same report also states that Arsenal are the favourites for his signature, with Wenger willing to offer cash and Mathieu Debuchy for the £25m-rated player.
Arsenal are in dire need of help at the back this season after a stuttering start has seen them languishing in sixth place in the league, 23 points behind runaway leaders Man City.
They were also dumped out of the FA Cup by Championship side Nottingham Forest in the shock of the third round.
However, fans obviously don’t see Evans as the answer and aren’t happy at being linked to the former Man United defender again.
Here is a selection of the best tweets from disgruntled Arsenal fans:
Will be a sad day if we sign Evans #afc

Why do @Arsenal keep getting linked with Johnny Evans? Every transfer window his name gets chucked bout.. He’s no way our first choice defensive target.. surely?! #afc #arsenal

No point buying Evans unless we’re going to let him coach the defence as well #afc

we can do better than Evans. Why not spend a little extra on a younger guy with talent that can help us for years to come?

If Evans signed for The Arsenal then he’d be the best defender at the club.
That speaks volumes where we are as a club at the moment.
