'Pure filth', 'Special player' – Arsenal fans in dreamland after major development in reported transfer
Arsenal fans are getting excited after two major developments in the Alexis Sanchez saga give more credence to reports linking Man United attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan to the Emirates.
The Metro reported that United manager Jose Mourinho confirmed that he had left Mkhitaryan out of the squad to face Stoke because of the links to Arsenal.
Before the Premier League game against Stoke Mourinho said: “I would lie if I said it was a pure tactical decision.
“It was just a choice of the players that we know, in this moment, they have 100 per cent their heads in Manchester United.”
During the Monday night game, Sky Sports transfer blog reported (8.45pm) that Man City had pulled out of the deal for Alexis Sanchez, leaving the road clear for United to steal in.
A report from Le10 Sport, as quoted by the Express claimed that Arsenal had accepted a deal that would see Sanchez move to Old Trafford and bring Mkhitaryan to the Emirates.
And, although there’s been no official confirmation, Arsenal fans are excited at the prospect of getting a player who looked brilliant in his early days at United, but has struggled for game time under Mourinho.
Here is a selection of the best tweets from excited Gunners fans:
Is there enough space for Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang, Malcom, Lacazette & Özil in one side? I’m not sure. Just a thought, but could we be signing Mkhitaryan & then using him as a makeweight for Aubameyang? Who knows. But think it’s clear we are active & in for the above players #afc

Özil, Lacazette, Aubameyang, Malcom and Mkhitaryan would be pure filth!
We can only dream… #AFC

Not going to get too carried away but the prospect of signing Aubameyang, Mkhitaryan and Malcom in one transfer window is pretty good.
Haven't got a problem with Sanchez going as he wants to leave & Walcott isn't good enough.
Worrying no defenders appear imminent though.#AFC

Can’t remeber the last time we had busy January window like this. Assuming that Alexis and Theo are already gone, if we bring in Aubameyang, Mkhitaryan and Malcom, this would be probably one of the best winter transfers window for us. Very good job. #AFC

Aubameyang is world class. Malcom is a talent with a massive potential. Mkhitaryan, he’s a very special player. Showed glimpses of what he’s capable of at United, but he’s struggled. If he can be the player he was at Dortmund, we’ll have a top top player joining the team. #afc

Aubameyang, Malcom AND Mkhitaryan? Well that would be a pretty huge January transfer window. I’ll be mightily impressed if that happens. #afc

If there's one thing Arsenal significantly lack in Mesut Özil's absense is creativity. Mkhitaryan isn't the most headline-breaking signing we could make, but he could definitely be an important signing. #AFC

Looks like we’ll be getting Mkhitaryan then #AFC
