Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Mahrez deal

Riyad Mahrez has signed a new contract at Leicester until 2020 – and Arsenal fans weren’t happy that the club missed out on a player heavily linked to the club.

French publication L’Equipe reported last week that the Gunners had tabled a bid worth £43 million for the 25-year-old.

However, the Foxes announced on their official Twitter account on Wednesday evening that the Algeria international had agreed to a new four-year extension at the club.

Arsenal fans have reacted angrily to the news and some have used it as another stick to bash manager Arsene Wenger with.

Here are a selection of their views on Twitter:

Mahrez recently opened his account for the 2016-17 Premier League season, after he scored a penalty for the Foxes in their surprise 2-1 defeat to newly promoted Hull on Saturday.

The winger will always be remembered for his memorable performance in the 2015-16 season where he scored 18 goals and provided 10 assists in 38 appearances as his side lifted the Premier League crown.

Arsenal have reportedly been turned down by Jamie Vardy, Gonzalo Higuain and now Mahrez and fans have grown disgruntled with Wenger only being able to secure the £30million signing of Switzerland international Granit Xhaka this summer.

In other Arsenal tranfer news, James Rodriguez’s agent Jorge Mendes has told Arsenal that Real Madrid are prepared to sell the attacking midfielder.
