Aston Villa would be getting “a bargain” if they signed Burnley winger Dwight McNeil for £15million this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker claimed the 21-year-old would be a “great” addition to Dean Smith’s side given his age, physicality and “lovely left foot”.
Football Insider revealed on Friday that Villa are preparing to test Burnley’s resolve with a £15million bid for the attacker in the next transfer window.
Dean Smith’s current wide options are Anwar El Ghazi, Bertrand Traore and Trezeguet, who was ruled out for up to a year with a devastating ACL injury last month.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of McNeil’s potential move to Villa Park, Campbell said: “That would be a bargain of a signing at £15million.
“That is cheap money.
“He is a great player and we have seen him score a couple of really nice goals this season. McNeil is young, strong, fit and has a lovely left foot.
“He gives that Burnley team really good balance.
“If Villa can get him for £15million that is an absolute snip.”
McNeil has contributed two goals and five assists in 36 appearances for the Clarets this season.
He has just over three years remaining on his contract at Turf Moor.
