Aston Villa can land 'wonderful' Smith Rowe alternative after major reveal - Campbell
Kevin Campbell has claimed Burnley winger Dwight McNeil would be a “wonderful” alternative to Emile Smith Rowe for Aston Villa.
However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said McNeil, 21, is “very different” in his play style to that of Smith Rowe and Jack Grealish.
The Midlands club have had bids of £25million and £30million rejected by the Gunners for Smith Rowe this summer.
It is understood that they are set to launch a third bid of more than £32million for the England Under-21 international soon.
Football Insider revealed on 6th July that Villa will turn their attentions to signing Burnley’s McNeil if they fail to lure Smith Rowe from the Emirates.
McNeil has three years remaining on his contract at Turf Moor.

When asked for his thoughts on Villa’s attacker chase, Campbell told Football Insider: “McNeil and Smith Rowe are very different players.
“McNeil likes to operate in that wide left spot and he hugs the touchline. He rarely cuts in but he has a wonderful left foot and his delivery into the box is excellent. It would be perfect for an Ollie Watkins.
“The thing about Smith Rowe is that he can go on the outside or come inside. He is a bit like a Grealish type.
“They’re very different in their play styles but either would be great signings for Villa.”
McNeil contributed two goals and five assists in 36 Premier League appearances last season.
He has also been capped by England’s Under-21s 10 times.
