Purslow deserves 'huge credit' as revealing Aston Villa footage emerges - Whelan

Christian Purslow deserves praise for directly addressing Jack Grealish’s Aston Villa departure.

So says ex-Premier League forward Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the club confirmed the transfer on 5th August.

Villa CEO Purslow appeared live on VillaTV soon after to reveal the circumstances surrounding the deal.

Football Insider broke news on 4th August that Man City would pay £75million rising by £25m including add-ons for the playmaker.

Whelan applauded Purslow for his transparency and claimed that the whole affair was conducted in the most professional manner possible.

“There are gonna be a lot of fans who are really upset that Jack’s gone,” he told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.

“He’s been part of the furniture for a long, long time. So of course, it’s the right thing for Purslow to do.

“I understand exactly why Purslow has done it and you have to say he deserves huge credit for it.

“I think Grealish has served his time and fulfilled his purpose at Villa. And with the players Purslow has bought, the club is in a really healthy position.

“Everybody at the club will appreciate the years and the hard work he’s put into that club.

“It’s been done completely professionally. I don’t think anyone can grumble with the comments that have come out of the club, or from Jack.

Grealish featured 213 times for Villa after graduating from the academy in 2013.

He made his City debut in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Leicester City in the Community Shield.

In other news, pundit claims this is why Aston Villa may have just completed the signing of the summer.
