Aston Villa have had an offer accepted for Brentford striker Scott Hogan – and fans on Twitter have expressed their excitement.

Dean Jones from Bleacher Report announced the news on his personal Twitter account on Monday evening.

This comes after Telegraph correspondent Jason Birt claimed on his personal Twitter account that Villa, along with Crystal Palace, West Brom and West Ham were interested in the £15million-rated forward.

Villa have currently have four strikers to choose from in their ranks, Jonathan Kodjia, Gabby Agbonlahor, Jordan Ayew and Ross McCormack.

The latter has been demoted to the Under-23s after failing to turn up to training and being unfit, while Swansea manager Paul Clement confirmed on Monday that Ayew is heading to the Liberty Stadium.

Aston Villa fans on Twitter believe signing Hogan from Brentford would be a real statement of intent from the promotion-chasing side because of the Premier League clubs interested in him.

One supporter stated that if Villa can sign either Hogan or Middlesbrough striker Jordan Rhodes then he will be content with the club’s January transfer business.

The Villa Park faithful were thinking about how good their forward line up could be with the possibility of Hogan teaming up with Jonathan Kodjia.

Overall, fans were pleased that the club had a reported bid accepted for the Bees striker.
