BBC journalist: Newcastle striker deal breaks down in last-gasp drama

Aleksandar Mitrovic’s loan move to Anderlecht has broken down in sensational last-minute drama, according to a BBC journalist.
Ian Dennis, a senior BBC Radio 5 reporter, broke the dramatic news on his official Twitter account on Wednesday evening, just before Newcastle were due to kick off against Burnley at St James’ Park.

No further news has been reported yet but this would be a massive blow to Newcastle that could have serious repercussions for other business if true.
Football Insider verdict:
Newcastle were after a new striker in January and it was reported earlier that Islam Slimani had completed his medical ahead of a loan move. However, it had also been said that incomings were reliant on players going out, Mitrovic being one of them. It would surely be too cruel for the house of cards to fall down at this late point, but no official announcement has been made about Slimani. We haven’t head any further details or confirmation that the Mitrovic deal is indeed off but this is one that looks set to provide late drama as the transfer deadline slams shut at midnight on Wednesday. In the meantime, Newcastle have got a crucial Premier League game to win against Burnley.
In other Newcastle United transfer news, the Magpies have agreed a deal with a top-three side for the loan exit of a top talent.
