BBC Sport pundit Danny Murphy believes his former club Tottenham must try to sign Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez.
Spurs are now without a win in their last three matches and have fallen to seventh place in the Premier League table. Murphy feels that Marhez is exactly the sort of player who would add something to the team.
“Tottenham need someone like him who can beat people and add a bit of dynamism to their team,” he said on BBC’s Match of the Day last night (29/11, 10:45pm).
The Algerian has been in good form for Leicester this season scoring three goals and delivering five assists in 14 Premier League appearances. He also scored in the EFL Cup win over Leeds United last month.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino experienced Mahrez’s quality first hand on Tuesday night, when he scored a brilliant goal in a 2-1 win for Leicester against the north London club at the King Power Stadium.
Jamie Vardy gave the home side the lead, before Mahrez cut in from the right hand side and curled a spectacular shot beyond Hugo Lloris in to the top corner.
Spurs pulled one back through top scorer Harry Kane with 12 minutes to go, but were left ruing missed opportunities as Claude Puel’s side held out for the victory.
Pochettino’s side are now a massive 16 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City after after dropping points in their last three matches against Leicester, West Bromwich Albion and north London rivals Arsenal.
In other Tottenham news, this star figure is being lined up to replace a former Premier League icon at there European giants.
