Darren Bent has been left drooling over the prospect of Ryan Sessegnon joining Brighton on loan from Tottenham before the transfer deadline.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Spurs and England striker admits the thought of the 20-year-old linking up with fellow young wing-back Tariq Lamptey is a very appealing proposition.
As revealed by Football Insider, Jose Mourinho is willing to let Sessegnon head out on loan, and Brighton are in the chase along with Southampton, Celtic and leading European clubs.
Young right-back Lamptey has been one of Graham Potter’s standout performers in the Seagulls’ early games.
Bent believes that Brighton would be able to offer Sessegnon plenty of game time and admits he loves the prospect of the two wing-backs bombing down the flanks.
“I like what Brighton are doing, I like Graham Potter and even though they got beat against Manchester United, I think they will be okay in the Premier League,” Bent told Football Insider.
“I think you look at Brighton, I think he’ll play more at Brighton potentially, he’ll learn and develop a lot more and who knows, he might just need to kick on again.
“You look at Brighton, they’ve got Lamptey, an exciting young right-back, and potentially Sessegnon as well? Oof, that’s very, very nice.”
Sessegnon has not played at all in Tottenham’s games this season and was only an unused substitute against Lokomotiv Plovdiv in their Europa League qualifier.
He has a total of just 12 appearances under his belt since his joined Spurs from Fulham for £25million last summer.
