Brendan Rodgers claims Celtic player is worth £15m
By Harvey Byrne
Brendan Rodgers has compared Scott Brown to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard and claimed Leigh Griffiths is worth £15million and shares similar attributes with Luis Suarez.
The former Liverpool manager worked with a number of stars during his three-year tenure in charge of the Reds and Gerrard and Suarez could arguably be considered the biggest that the Northern Irish manager has worked with.
Rodgers, who is well known for his hyperbole, has now compared two of his Celtic players to the Liverpool greats.
“They are very similar. They want what is best for the club,” said Rodgers when asked about Gerrard and Brown, as quoted by The Mirror.
“Scott’s ambition is for the club, not for himself.

“That’s what you find in these types of players – they are not selfish. Everything they do is based around what’s best for the team and they put themselves secondary to that.
“Steven, like Scott, was a wonderful ambassador for his club. And in the changing room they are very strong, they are able to lead.
“You need your lieutenants in there who can control that and certainly he is one of them.”
Also comparing former Wolves striker Leigh Griffiths to one of the worlds best strikers, Suarez, Rodgers said:
“Leigh plays on the limit, as a number of our boys do. That’s what you want as a coach and a manager.
“If he had a different name – a more Latino name – this guy would be talked about as being worth £15million, for sure. Luis Suarez played on edge and he was alright.”
Both Gerrard and Suarez were intergral parts of Rodgers’ side that finished in second place in the 2013-14 season
The Celtic boss is now looking to win the SPL keeping major rivals Rangers at bay, while also qualifying for this season’s Champions League.
