Celtic backed to complete Dominik Livakovic signing after ‘offer’ – expert

Celtic have been backed to complete the signing of Dominik Livakovic from Fenerbahce in a potential big-money move.

Sources have told Football Insider that Celtic have tabled an informal offer worth £7.6million to seal the goalkeeper’s signature as they look to replace Joe Hart after his retirement.

Livakovic, 29, is a Croatia international and is currently representing his country at Euro 2024.

It is believed that the Scottish giants have held extensive talks over a deal as they work on securing a full agreement.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Scotland defender Alan Hutton explained that his valuation could go “through the roof” with impressive performances at the Euros.

The deal was described as a “smart” one, with the potential for Celtic to make big money on his sale in the future if his performances gather interest.

Last season, Livakovic made 47 appearances for Fenerbahce, keeping 21 clean sheets as they finished second in the league and reached the Conference League quarter-finals.

Livakovic has been a long-term target at Parkhead after Hoops icon Frank McAvennie, speaking to Football Insider, urged the club to hijack his deal to join Fenerbahce last summer.

Now, Hutton has backed the side to make the deal happen as they now have the funds required to spend on a high-profile signing.

If he kicks on and does what everybody expects him to do, it would be a smart signing,” he told Football Insider.

They could make a lot of money out of it.

The Euros has normally got an impact on that, if he goes there and plays really well, his valuation could go through the roof as we’ve seen previously.

It’ll be an interesting one to watch what happens.

These are big numbers, but I think Celtic are a club that can pay that sort of money and fees, especially if they get money in.

We’ll see how it develops, but Celtic have definitely got the scope to spend that kind of money.”
