‘No statue?’, ‘Certainly a fans favourite’ – Celtic supporters react on Twitter to Izaguirre exit
By Harvey Byrne
Celtic fans have posted their sadness on Twitter following the confirmed exit of left-back Emilio Izaguirre on Wednesday afternoon.
The 31-year-old defender revealed back in July that he had left Glasgow for Saudi Arabian top-flight club Al-Fayha.
However, just under two weeks later the Hoops announced via their official website and Twitter account that the Honduras international had left after seven years at Celtic.
Izaguirre had become a fan favourite with the famous Celtic support after joining from Motagua back in 2010.
The quick left-back competed in 252 matches in total for the Hoops, winning as many as six Premiership titles alongside two Scottish Cups and two Scottish League Cups.
Now, Celtic fans have paid tribute to the departing player on social media with many suggesting that they were close to crying over the exit of the long-serving player.
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Despite all of his appearances for Celtic Izaguirre played just 18 times in all competitions for Brendan Rodgers last season, including 12 Premiership appearances.
The Hoops also have young star Kieran Tierney in their left-back ranks, leaving little opportunity for the Honduran in the starting line-up.
In other Celtic transfer news, the Hoops had been installed as second favourites to sign this 22-goal English striker.
