Transfer interest in Odsonne Edouard is hotting up but “Celtic don’t want to sell” just yet, according to Michael Brown.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League star was reacting as West Ham became the latest club to step up their interest the 23-year-old, as per the Daily Mail.
Clubs were put on high alert after this site revealed that Celtic had cut their asking price for the former Paris Saint-Germain ace from £40million to £25m.
But while the Hoops — who are 23 points behind Rangers in the Scottish Premiership — may be resigned to seeing their star man leave, they will be reluctant to sell this January for fear of worsening their current plight, says Brown.
Asked what he made of the recent Premier League interest in Edouard, he told Football Insider: “Celtic don’t want to sell anyone at this moment in time. I think they’ll want to improve and try and close that gap.
“As we’ve seen, it’s a difficult situation at the moment.
“I don’t think there’s a huge difference at this moment in time from the summer, in terms of when they sell him, but I can’t see them letting go at this stage.
“Clubs’ finances might be slightly different in that they don’t want to pay too much at this time of the season.
“I’d say wait to the summer and have a look at it then.”
Edouard was on target as Celtic beat Hamilton Academical last night, his 12th goal of the season.
That brings his tally up to 75 in 152 Hoops appearances, an impressive hit-rate just shy of one in two.
