Celtic poised to submit seven-figure bid for goal-scoring CL enforcer - report

Celtic are preparing to bid for Beskitas’ 32-year-old defender Dusko Tosic, with a fee of £2.6million expected to be enough, according to a report.

Fotospor reports that the Hoops are interested in the defender and Brendan Rodgers is preparing the budget in order to make the move happen.

The same report states that the Bhoys are interested in RB Leipzig’s Marvin Compper, but the Scottish Sun reported that he won’t be available in January due to the club’s injury woes.

Tosic has already attracted the attention of Tottenham this season – beIN Sports Turkey claim they had sent representatives to the club who were reportedly preparing a £9million bid for the veteran defender.

The defender has made 13 Super Lig appearances this season for Beskitas, and has scored three goals. He’s also played all six of their Champions League games so has experience at the highest level.

With Compper not an option in January, Tosic seems like a solid replacement target. The defender is well traveled having played for Portsmouth, Real Betis, Werder Bremen among others and would be no stranger to settling into a new league. Tottenham’s interest in the star may be a non-issue as the club normally sign younger players, so their interest in Tosic is odd. With the 32-year-old playing regular football at his club, the defender should be able to hit the ground running if Rodgers signs him in January. The defender will be tempted with a move to Celtic given the fact he has never played in the Europa League.
