Celtic will not lose any sleep over potential next Rangers manager as talks reportedly begin
One of the most unlikely developments in recent football history has to be the news that Rangers have held discussions with former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard about the 37-year-old becoming the next manager at Ibrox.
The Scottish Sun reported that Gerrard and the Gers board have held talks, which would see the rookie manager – currently a Liverpool academy coach – go up against his former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.
It is unlikely that anyone at Celtic Park is losing sleep over the prospect of Gerrard becoming manager of the Gers, in fact they are more likely to burst into laughter.
A job at the Old Firm isn’t the place for a manager with no previous experience in management – look at John Barnes at Celtic in 1999, he didn’t even last an entire season before he was sacked.
As for people comparing the move to Graeme Souness joining Rangers in 1986 – get real. The Hoops were skint at that time, this time we have plenty of money to spend.

There’s little doubt that Rodgers would enjoy coming up against Gerrard in a professional capacity, as both men no doubt have a healthy amount of respect for each other.
But when it comes to matters on the pitch, there will only be one winner – and that is Rodgers.
