Chairman unimpressed at loan for Tottenham sensation Edwards: I will give him a swerve
By Harry Sykes
Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has dismissed the prospect of his club signing Marcus Edwards from Tottenham.
The League One club have had a strong relationship with Spurs in recent seasons and taken a number of their emerging stars on loan.
Goalkeeper Luke McGee is on a season-long loan from the London giants and ex-Spur Nathan Oduwa spent the first half of the campaign at Posh.
But the club’s outspoken owner MacAnthony made it clear he does not intend to pursue a loan move for highly rated wonderkid Edwards.
Asked by a supporter at the possibility of signing the “terrific prospect”, MacAnthony delivered an emphatic answer.

It is open to question whether Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino would be willing to loan out gifted playmaker Edwards in any case.
Pochettino has stated on several occasions that he prefers the best of the club’s young players to train with him and his coaches and be among first teamers rather than head off to pick up bad habits elsewhere.
Edwards has made only one senior Spurs appearance – as a substitute in the League Cup – but Pochettino has spoken of him in glowing terms and even compared him to Lionel Messi.
In other Tottenham transfer news, a forward has signed after Spurs agreed terms on an out-of-window deal.
