Charlie Adam: This is why Everton ace is not good enough for Tottenham
By Amir Mir
Charlie Adam believes Everton ace Ross Barkley is not good enough for Tottenham because “Dele Alli is playing so well”.
The Stoke City midfielder believes the Toffees 23-year-old should leave Goodison Park at the end of the season because he believes he could play for some of the other top six sides.
England international Barkley has had a mixed season for Everton this term, which first started with his manager Ronald Koeman criticising him for his performances.
However, since the turn of the year, he has picked up the pace, scoring one goal and supplying seven assists.
Former Scotland international Adam gave his thoughts on Barkley, who is yet to sign a new contract with his club.

“Everton fans hate me anywhere,” Adam told BBC Radio Five Live. “For me, he is 23, he has to see what options he has out there.
“He has every option out there, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea – I think he is good enough [to go to the top six teams].
“Maybe not Tottenham because Dele Alli is playing so well, but he has been linked to Tottenham. Maybe he needs to go out of the city and express himself somewhere else.”
Ronald Koeman’s side recently beat Premier League champions Leicester City 4-2 on home soil on Sunday afternoon, with Barkley winning the Man of the Match award.
After the game, the Dutchman warned the highly-rated youngster that he will sell him in the summer if he does not put pen to paper on a new contract.
Over the course of the season, Barkley has played 33 matches for his side, scoring five goals added with his eight assists.
By contrast, Alli has scored 16 goals in the Premier League, more than the likes of Sergio Aguero and Eden Hazard.
His performances have helped Spurs chase the Premier League title as they are currently seven points behind leaders Chelsea.
