Reliable journalist: Liverpool contact PL rivals amid reported interest in electrifying attacker
Liverpool FC hold no interest in signing Leicester City forward Riyad Mahrez this January, according to a reliable journalist.
Carl Markham, a Press Association reporter for Liverpool and Everton, has claimed via his Twitter account that there will be no attempt from Liverpool to sign the Algerian international.
He also claimed that Liverpool have contacted Leicester to inform them that they have no interest in bringing the attacker to Anfield.
Markham posted the tweet to his official Twitter account on Saturday afternoon.
Understand @LFC have contacted @LCFC directly to tell them they have no interest in winger Riyad Mahrez – among a number of first-teamers left out of the Foxes' FA Cup team at Fleetwood – and speculation is "complete fabrication"

Speculation regarding the future of the Algerian was raised after he surprisingly did not get included in the FA Cup fixture versus Fleetwood.
It is no secret that Mahrez does not want to be at the King Power anymore, as he handed in a transfer request over the Summer.
The news might come as a shock, as French media outlet L’Equipe today reported that Liverpool were eyeing Mahrez as a potential replacement to Philippe Coutinho, should a deal happen to take the Brazillian to Barcelona.
However, as Markham has stated, there has been direct contact between the clubs denying this fact, stating that any link is a ‘complete fabrication’.
If true it’s an extraordinary move on Liverpool’s part.
The reliable jouirnalist goes on to suggest that previous transfer mishaps during the Summer have caused the Reds bosses to act in this way,
I presume this stems from the fall-out from the Van Dijk shambles last summer with LFC not wanting to be wrongly tarred with that brush again

This is food for thought, as Southampton reported Liverpool to the FA for an alleged ‘illegal approach’ regarding the transfer of Virgil Van Dijk over the Summer.
Football Insider verdict:
Mahrez does not want to play his football at the King Power, but it does not seem he will be playing it at Anfield either. Liverpool boast a massive range of attacking threat so it is hard to see where the Algerian would fit in. There has been reported interest by other Premier League clubs, perhaps there is more to that link than this one. Mahrez does possess the quality to play for big time clubs, as evidenced by his title winning season.
