Confirmed: Celtic striker announces new deal on Twitter

By Harry Sykes

After a day of teasing Celtic fans on twitter, Celtic striker Moussa dembele finally revealed what he was signing in a picture he tweeted out earlier in the day.

In the tweet, sent out on Wednesday afternoon, Dembele was pictured signing what looked like a contract with the teasing words, “They wanted me.”

He also included a hashtag that hinted at a big announcement to come.

The good news for celtic fans was that this was just a precursor to a new boot deal with Adidas – as was speculated earlier.

And this was confirmed in a follow-up tweet on Wednesday evening.

In the tweet, Dembele said the decision he’d made to sign with Adidas was “surely the best one” and added “let’s keep scoring goals together.”

Even though it was highly unlikely that Dembele would announce he was leaving the club through a tweet, Celtic fans will be relieved that there’s nothing more going on with their star striker.

Dembele signed from Fulham on a free transfer in July 2016 and has been a huge hit at the Scottish club.

The 21-year-old has been linked with numerous top-flight clubs over the summer but so far no move has been forthcoming.

Dembele has made 51 appearances for Celtic, scoring an incredible 32 goals and adding nine assists.

In other Celtic news, Hoops fans aired their delight on Twitter after Kundai Benyu was handed his first start against Kilmarnock on Tuesday.
