Confirmed Man United line-up v Real Madrid: Lukaku starts, Bale plays for Real

By Harry Sykes

Jose Mourinho has announced his line-up for Man United’s first competitive game of the season, against Real Madrid in the Super Cup.

The game kicks off at 7.45pm at the Philip II Arena, Skopje in Macedonia.

The team was announced on Man United’s official Twitter account ahead of the kick-off.

The Real Madrid line-up was also of interest to the Man United faithful, with all eyes on Gareth Bale.

Rumours have been swirling about him making a sensational return to English football, with United manager Mourinho saying he would be interested if Real wanted to sell.

Mourinho was quoted in the BBC as saying that if Bale was in the line-up for the Super Cup match tonight, that it would show that Real want to hang onto him.

“If he plays, it is the clearest signal that he is staying there,” said Mourinho before the game.

“Then I won’t even think about it. If he is not in the club’s plans and it is true that a player like Bale is at the departure gate, I will try to be there waiting for him at the other side.”

Their line-up was released on the official Real Madrid Twitter account ahead of the game.

Unfortunately for Man United fans and Mourinho, Bale was included in the Real team which seems to make that transfer dead in the water.

Man United kick-off their Premier league campaign at home to West Ham on Sunday in the 4pm kick-off.
