Gerrard delivers Liverpool verdict on Coutinho after trolling from Rio Ferdinand
Liverpool legend Steve Gerrard has said that he feels “sick” after Philippe Coutinho left Liverpool to move to Barcelona in the January transfer window.
The long-running transfer saga finally came to an end this week when Coutinho sealed his dream move to the Spanish giants for a fee that could rise to £142m.
Talking on BT Sport Gerrard said, “I‘m still digesting it as a Liverpool fan.”
Rio Ferdinand then ribbed him, cutting in to say, “You feel sick?” before Gerrard replied, “Yeah.”
He went on to give his verdict on the move saying, “I’m not surprised. I know Liverpool did everything they could to keep him.
“There’s no doubt that Liverpool will miss him… To be fair he hasn’t downed tools so I wish him all the best.”

Football Insider verdict:
Gerrard’s right, Liverpool will miss him, but Coutinho’s move to Barcelona has looked inevitable for a long time now, and it’s best for all parties that the move has finally reached a conclusion. The saga was disruptive to Liverpool last summer and again in January, and now they have a huge amount of money to reinvest in new players. They’ve already spent £75m on Virgil van Dijk and can now look at strengthening an already lethal midfield. Hopefully Liverpool fans can see the move in the same way as Gerrard – gutted, but at peace with it.
In other Liverpool transfer news, Sky Sports have released a major sell-on clause bluff in Coutinho’s contract as he joined Liverpool.
