Deal in place for Newcastle to land versatile 21-year-old from PL giants - report
By Danny Wright
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte will not be ready to give Kenedy the green light to join Newcastle until he finds a new striker, according to a report.
The Mirror claimed in their live transfer blog on Sunday [03:17am] that there is a season-long loan deal in place for the Magpies to snap up the 21-year-old, but the move has stalled after Premier League giants Chelsea have been left hanging in their pursuit of Swansea’s Fernando Llorente.
The Spanish powerhouse suffered a broken arm in pre-season training and that could the reason as to why the title-holders have failed to land him at this late stage in the transfer window.
Kenedy also had his own pre-season drama after he was sent home from China after posting an offensive message on social media, leaving his Stamford Bridge future hanging in the balance.
However the versatile Brazil Under-23 international, who can play anywhere on the left side of the pitch, has been named on the bench for Chelsea’s two opening Premier League fixtures, showing that he is currently a part of Conte’s first-team plans.

Kenedy spent last season on loan at Watford, but after suffering a serious knee injury, he played just once before returning to Chelsea in the winter.
Football Insider Verdict
Kenedy has had his recent injury problems, but he now appears to be past that and perhaps would have been in Conte’s plans this season if it weren’t for his pre-season antics which got him in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. However there’s no denying that Kenedy has a lot of talent that he can bring to the Newcastle squad. The main draw of the Brazilian is no doubt his versatility. He can play at left-back, on the wing or even as a striker. With Paul Dummett injured, Kenedy could come straight in and take over from Chancel Mbemba in filling the left-back void. It would be a good move for the Magpies, but Rafa Benitez will still hope he keeps himself off the back pages and off the injury table.
In other Newcastle news, a European giant is looking to offload this experienced international striker to the Magpies.
