Dom Solanke, Wan-Bissaka react to ‘incredible’ message from Rangers ace Max Aarons

Tottenham’s Dom Solanke and West Ham star Aaron Wan-Bissaka reacted to a message from Rangers new boy Max Aarons.

The former Bournemouth man spent part of last season on loan at Valencia, but made just five appearances for the Spanish side.

With a new right-back needed at Ibrox, Rangers pounced to sign Aarons on loan from the Cherries, becoming the club’s second signing of the summer.

Since signing the English right-back, the Bears have been busy, making six more additions as new owners Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises look to give Russell Martin a squad capable of competing with Celtic.

The most recent addition was Djeidi Gassama, whose move from Sheffield Wednesday looked to have collapsed before Rangers managed to get it over the line.

Max Aarons stars as Rangers beat Panathinaikos

Martin’s time as Rangers boss got off to the perfect start as his side claimed a 2-0 victory against Panathinaikos in the Champions League qualifiers.

Aarons started at left-back and put in a tidy performance for his new side. Following the win, the Englishman took to Instagram to share a message, saying: “First one at Ibrox, incredible atmosphere. Big win to take to Athens!”

The post was liked by Premier League stars Solanke and Wan-Bissaka, with the pair showing support for the 25-year-old.

Max Aarons adds balance to Rangers

Football Insider Verdict

James Tavernier’s Rangers career may be in its final chapter, but for as long as the former Newcastle man is at Ibrox, he will be Martin’s first-choice at right-back.

However, that does not mean that Aarons will struggle for game time, as shown when the ex-Southampton boss lined up with both players in his starting XI against the Greek side.

Tavernier’s ability going forward is never in question, but his attacking nature can leave Rangers‘ centre-backs exposed.

Aarons is effective moving forward, but the former Norwich City man is just as capable as a defender.

Despite his right-footedness, the 25-year-old slots in well to create a strong back three whilst Tavernier moves into the attack, adding a sense of balance to Rangers’ backline that was missing last term.
