Dominic Solanke to take ‘next step’ as Tottenham move ‘happening’ – expert

Dominic Solanke is ready to take the next step in his career by securing a transfer move to Tottenham in the summer window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham defender Alan Hutton insisted that the Bournemouth striker would fit Spurs’ system well and could prove to be a 20-plus-goal forward.

Solanke, 26, played all 38 Premier League games this season, scoring 19 goals and providing three assists in performances which have attracted interest from top clubs.

This comes after Football Insider revealed that Spurs have a “concrete” interest in Solanke, having been long-term admirers of his.

The striker joined Bournemouth in an initial £19million deal from Liverpool in 2019, and has just enjoyed his best goalscoring season at Premier League level.

Hutton insisted that with the likes of Dejan Kulusevski and the “electric” Son Heung-min alongside him, his goalscoring numbers would only get better.

Yeah, I think he could,” he told Football Insider.

He’s had an outstanding season but he’s not even made it into the England squad, which he’s probably a little bit down about.

He’s scored goals, he holds the ball up, he links play, he’s confident. He’s really thrived at Bournemouth and this could be the next step for him.

To go to a team like Tottenham, where he will be loved and he’ll get the chance to play with freedom. I can see it happening.

He fits into that system very well. Kulusevski played against Sheffield United and scored two goals while Son looked electric out on the left.

They’ve got options, and I think he could come into the squad to be the guy who’s going to score the 20-plus goals that they need.”

In other news, Tottenham chiefs have flown out to discuss a new deal this week.
