Dominic Solanke: Tottenham ready to strike after confirmed news

Tottenham are continuing to keep close tabs on Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke, sources have told Football Insider.

Spurs remain in the market for an A-list number nine and Ange Postecoglou is pushing the club to get a deal for the 26-year-old done by the 31st August transfer deadline.

Tottenham have registered their interest in Solanke, but face stiff competition from West Ham and ex-club Chelsea.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has admitted Solanke could still leave the club before the window shuts.

Postecoglou is said to be “obsessed” with finding a number nine capable of leading the line as Harry Kane had done so successfully and are also in ‘daily talks’ with Lille’s Jonathan David.

Tottenham want Dominic Solanke amid Richarlison doubts

Solanke scored 19 goals in 38 Premier League appearances for Bournemouth last season, that’s eight more than current centre-forward Richarlison and two more than top league goalscorer Son Hueng-Min.

Since joining the club for £19 million from Liverpool in 2019, Solanke has scored 77 goals in 216 appearances for the South Coast side.

Spurs are yet to find a suitable replacement for talismanic forward Harry Kane and believe Solanke could be the one.

Tottenham should expect significant competition and given that Solanke is a homegrown player, they should also anticipate paying a premium price tag for his signature.

The north London club have also been linked with a move for Brentford’s England international Ivan Toney, with the Bees forward’s contract expiring next summer.
