The Welshman is predominantly a left-back but is versatile and can also play in left midfield.
He is a product of the Cardiff academy, and joined the senior squad in 2013 before travelling away from Wales for loan stints with Barnsley and Chesterfield.
John has made a total of 52 appearances for the Welsh club since moving up to the first team, but since Neil Warnock took over as manager at the club in October he’s only started one game.

When asked about joining the club, the left-sided player said it was an easy decision for him to make.
“It’s such a massive club,” he told RangersTV.
“As soon as I heard Rangers wanted to come in for the loan deal it was a yes straight away fro me.”
Football Insider verdict
Signing Declan John will be a fantastic boost for the club and will mean the squad are raring to go after the international break. He will undoubtably strengthen their backline for their upcoming fixtures, particularly against Celtic at the end of September. Caixinha has now made 11 signings, and it would be surprising if he sealed one more in the closing hours of the window. Rangers main focus has to be aiming to remain as close to Celtic in the table as they can, and return to their earlier performances in pre-season and the opening weekend of the Premiership.
