'Ekuban hatrick' – Leeds fans react to new striker debut for Leeds v Port Vale

By Harry Sykes

Striker Caleb Ekuban was one of four Leeds players getting their competitive debuts in the Carabao Cup v Port Vale and Whites fans are excited about seeing him in action.

Ekuban was joined by Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Samu Saiz and Mateusz Klich and all four will be hoping to secure Leeds passage through to the next round of the cup.

The team news was announced on the Leeds Twitter account on Wednesday evening.

On seeing Ekuban’s name on the team sheet, Leeds fans took to Twitter to predict a goal (or three!) for the 23-year-old on his competitive debut.

Here is a selection of their reactions on Twitter:

Ekuban signed for Leeds in a four-year deal from Chievo Verona in the summer for a fee of £500k.

He came up through the Chievo youth ranks and was loaned to several sides including Lumezzane and FK Partizani before landing his move to the English Championship.

Manager Thomas Christiansen will be hoping that he’s unearthed a gem and a goal-scoring back-up to main striker Chris Wood is just what Leeds need.

In other Leeds news, Noel Whelan has predicted the Whites’ score against Port Vale.
