Euro wonderkid on Everton radar jets in for talks with PL club over Jan deal - Sky Sports

Everton look set to miss out on Gothenburg goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg after he jetted into the UK for talks with their Premier League rivals Watford on Tuesday, according to a report.

Sky Sports claimed in their live transfer blog on Tuesday [02:03PM] that the Everton-linked wonderkid had traveled with his agent to negotiate a £2.9miillion move to Vicarage Road in January from Swedish top-flight side Gothenburg.

It is understood that Arsenal were also in the hunt to sign the Sweden Under-21 international as well as RB Leipzig and Napoli.

The Daily Mail has previously reported that Everton have Dalhberg, 18, on their radar with him being regarded as one of the hottest young talents in European football.

Dahlberg, despite his age, is already a regular first-team star for Gothenburg, featuring in all but one of their Allsvenskan matches last season with his only absence coming about due to a suspension.

It seems that Everton will now definitely miss out on Dahlberg as it is perhaps very likely that he will decide to join Watford once January comes around. The Hornets have pulled off a really good deal to land the goalkeeper, who is tipped to be a full Sweden international in the future. Everton already have decent goalkeeper options so it is not too much of a blow to them and there will no doubt be more young talents come along in the future. Jordan Pickford was the best signing the Toffees made in the summer and he has years and years ahead of him where he can try to become the best Goodison Park goalkeeper since the great Neville Southall.

In other Everton news, the Toffees must revive their interest in this Manchester United ace after Ronald Koeman dropped a summer clanger.
