Everton to receive imminent Amadou Onana offer – O’Rourke

Everton are expecting to receive some “cheeky” bids from clubs looking to sign midfielder Amadou Onana before 30 June, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed other clubs will be thinking they can land the Belgium international on a cheap deal due to the Merseyside giants’ financial situation.

Football Insider revealed on 21 May Everton will need to sell at least one of their “big” stars before they submit their accounts at the end of this month.

O’Rourke admitted Onana is the most likely candidate to leave Goodison Park, with Bayern Munich and PSG joined in the race to sign him by several other top clubs.

Football Insider revealed last month the Merseysiders will accept a £50million bid for the midfielder’s services as they look to ensure some of their other star players remain at the club next season.

The 22-year-old is under contract until 2027.

Everton could sell Amadou Onana to ease PSR concerns

Onana enjoyed a strong first season at Everton after joining the club in a £33million deal from French side Lille in 2022.

But he hasn’t really kicked on over the past year after being dropped from the starting lineup in four of the final six games of last season.

The Belgian has been heavily linked with a move away from Goodison in recent months as the club look to get on top of their financial situation.

O’Rourke believes Onana is a good player and is only likely to get better in the future, prompting a number of top sides to keep tabs on him.

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider the midfielder’s value could rocket this summer if he performs well for Belgium at the European Championships.
