Ex-manager in no doubt what will be outcome of Kane bid to quit Tottenham this summer

Harry Kane’s agent will be “kicking the door down” to force a move from Tottenham this summer, according to Alex McLeish.

The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted Spurs’ hopes of keeping the 27-year-old appeared slim.

As revealed by Football Insider back in April, Kane privately told friends he wants to quit Spurs in search of silverware this summer.

Sky Sports now claim the striker has told Tottenham he is looking to leave and wants his future sorted before the Euros kick off.

Kane still has three years left on the contract he signed back in 2018.

However, McLeish admitted the striker’s situation appeared “ominous” for Spurs.

McLeish told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: “These days, if the player wants to go, then you can’t keep anybody against their will. But, as we know, Harry Kane is going to cost quite a lot of money.

“One thing’s for sure, Tottenham will bust a gut to keep him. He still has three years on his contract, they can obviously keep him and say you’re not going anywhere. But then, in these modern days, you’ve got the agent kicking the door down, the player unhappy.

“Harry Kane doesn’t seem that type that’s going to go in a huff if Spurs don’t let him go. It sounds ominous, it’s very ominous. I don’t think people are surprised because it’s been mooted over two, three, four years.

“I didn’t realise he had three years left. That’s still quite a substantial chunk of a contract. The signs are if the player wants to leave, and there’s no turning back, Spurs will have to do some kind of massive business deal.”

Kane has scored 220 goals in 334 appearances since breaking through the youth ranks in north London.

It is understood Manchester United are prepared to offer two players in part exchange for the striker this summer.
