Ex-striker in awe of Chelsea transfer plan as ‘huge’ bid lined up for new Werner partner

Harry Kane can thrive at Chelsea if he leaves Tottenham during the summer transfer window.

That’s according to former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Kane’s future.

A Chelsea source has told Football Insider that Kane is a top target and they are ready to line up a huge bid for him if they believe a deal is possible.

This site understands Manchester United are also interested in signing the England captain and chief scout Jim Lawlor watched him play against Leeds last week.

In April, Football Insider revealed Kane has told friends he is ‘hell bent’ on quitting Tottenham this summer.

Kane, 27, is top of the charts for both Premier League goals and assists this season with 21 and 13 respectively.

McAvennie claims Kane can thrive alongside Timo Werner at Chelsea in what has the potential to be a prolific partnership.

“Chelsea have a great manager and are doing very well,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“If Kane was to go there he’d score an awful lot of goals. Werner is a different kind of centre forward.

“He isn’t always a goalscorer but his movement is excellent. Harry would score a lot of goals if he played with Werner.

“To be honest he’ll score goals where ever he’s playing but he could work very well with Werner.”

Werner, 25, has struggled during his debut Premier League season, scoring just six goals.

However, he has racked up 11 assists and performed well in recent games against West Ham and Real Madrid.
