Ex-teammate lifts lid on Gollini as Tottenham in advanced talks over 'left-field' signing
Alan Hutton has claimed signing Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini in a loan-to-buy deal is “ideal for Tottenham”.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs defender admitted his former Aston Villa teammate is a “left-field” signing for Nuno Espirito Santo.
As revealed by Football Insider on Wednesday (July 21st), Spurs’ director of football Fabio Paratici is in advanced talks over a loan-to-buy deal for Gollini.
Sky Sports report Tottenham have agreed to pay £13million to buy Gollini if he plays a certain number of games.
It is said the 26-year-old has had the first part of his medical in Italy ahead of his move to England.
Hutton, who played with Gollini at Villa, claims the Italian has all the attributes to be a top keeper.

However, he admitted he wondered what his arrival meant for Hugo Lloris.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “You could see that there was a good goalkeeper in there if he knuckled down and worked hard.
“I think moving away to Atalanta, he got that opportunity to prove himself. He had some excellent performances. Obviously, I look out for him when they’re playing in Europe. He was playing at a high level.
“I do think it’s a little bit left-field moving to Tottenham. I’m sitting here trying to work out is he going to be battling Lloris for the number one? Is he a number one for the future? How do they see this developing?
“He definitely had all the attributes to be a good goalkeeper. He just really had to knuckle down and work at it. It looks like he has.
“I’m very interested to see how this pans out and what he’s capable of back here in England. It didn’t go to plan the first time. It will be interesting to see him come back.
“A loan is ideal for Tottenham. It’s minimum risk at the moment. A year loan with the possibility to extend for another year. It gives them the opportunity to run their eye over him.”
