Darren Bent suggested Hull City attacker Jarrod Bowen was capable of replacing Grady Diangana at West Brom.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former England international admitted signing Bowen would prove to be a shrewd move if West Ham recalled Diangana from his loan spell in January.
Bent explained that signing the 22-year-old winger only made total sense if Diangana returned to the Hammers as Bowen wouldn’t get above Diangana in the pecking order.
The retired striker suggested it is possible that West Ham may look to recall Diangana as they’re lacking something at the moment.
“Diangana has been absolutely brilliant for West Bromwich Albion this season,” Bent told Football Insider.
“Obviously that’s what I was thinking about with Bowen, he was the main guy I was thinking about, Diangana, if he is still there then Bowen won’t get ahead of him as he’s been brilliant.
“But if Diangana goes back to West Ham, I think they’re lacking a little something at the moment West Ham, they’ll need cover for that position as he’s brilliant all season.
“Obviously Bowen could slot in there and make up the difference and then signing Bowen would actually become a shrewd move.”
Diangana has scored five goals, while registering six assists, in the 20 appearances he has made for the Baggies this season.
Hammers manager Manuel Pellegrini previously suggested in November that the 21-year-old winger would be better off staying at the Hawthorns for the whole season.
In other West Brom news, it can be REVEALED that Paris Saint-Germain are plotting a bid for a Baggies player in January window.
