Exclusive: Bruce claims Leeds have set sights on 'Great' signing from PL strugglers

Alex Bruce insists it will be “very difficult” for Leeds United to prise goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale away from Bournemouth this summer.

The former Leeds and Hull defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, admits the shot-stopper would be a great signing for Marcelo Bielsa’s men but that it all depends on the Cherries’ future.

As revealed exclusively by Football Insider, the Whites have made the 21-year-old a firm target to bolster their squad if they are promoted this season.

Leeds are pushing for promotion back to the Premier League this season while Bournemouth currently sit in the relegation zone in the top flight.

Bruce insists bringing the England under-21 international would be an impressive signing but that doing a deal is easier said than done.

Asked by Football Insider if the shot-stopper would be a great signing for Leeds, Bruce said: “Yeah, of course but obviously a lot of it depends on Bournemouth as well.

“It’s all well and good saying he’d be a good player for that club but it’s very difficult to prise good assets away from clubs.

“Obviously if they can get someone of that stock it would be a good signing but it’s very difficult to do deals like that.”

Kiko Casilla was Marcelo Bielsa’s first-choice goalkeeper prior to being handed an eight-game ban, with loanee Illan Meslier taking the Spaniard’s place in the starting XI.

The 20-year-old Frenchman has started just two league games for the Whites, keeping a clean sheet against both Hull and Huddersfield.
