Exclusive: Chelsea’s new Murillo transfer plan revealed

Chelsea interest in Nottingham Forest star Murillo will not go away after they had a January bid rejected, sources have told Football Insider.

Forest rejected a club-record figure for the 22-year-old defender – who later signed a new contract at the City Ground running until 2029.

Nevertheless, Murillo remains a top target for Chelsea – who are on the hunt for new defenders and are keen to bring the world’s best young talent to Stamford Bridge.

Sources say it will be a “tough deal to do” for the Blues despite their limitless transfer budget.

The Brazilian is now under a long-term contract and could be convinced to stay with Forest if they secure Champions League qualification this season.

Nottingham Forest fans have responded with glee to the news of the Midlands club rejecting a January move for Murillo.

He has made 23 appearances across all competitions this term, starting in each of those outings.

The 22-year-old has forged a formidable partnership with Nikola Milenkovic with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side sitting third in the Premier League.

Marc Guehi could be Murillo alternative for Chelsea

Football Insider revealed last week (4 February) that Liverpool and Arsenal are among the sides likely to join Chelsea in the race for Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi this summer.

Tottenham launched a late-window, £70million bid for the Palace skipper in the January transfer window.

Guehi left Chelsea for Palace in 2021 and could be re-signed by the Stamford Bridge club as a potential alternative to Murillo.
