Tottenham signing Ryan Sessegnon could lead to Lucas Moura finding himself axed from the starting XI next season, according to Danny Mills.
The former England defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims that the Fulham winger would head straight into the senior setup in north London were he to make the move across the capital, despite having just one Premier League campaign under his belt.
As revealed by Football Insider, Tottenham are holding talks with their London rivals over a move to sign both Ryan and twin brother Steven, with the confidence they will be able to agree on a fee for the former’s capture.
Asked what sort of impact Sessegnon’s arrival could have on Mauricio Pochettino’s current options on the wing, Mills said that the 19-year-old would be part of the first team squad and that Brazilian ace Moura is in the firing line as a result.
Mills told Football Insider: “If Ryan Sessegnon goes to Tottenham will he be in and around the first team squad? Yes, he will. I think he would be a good addition to Tottenham’s squad.
“Will he be in the 25 named in the European squad? Yes, he would be. If you look at who will play next season, Son is fabulous, he always plays. Moura, yes and no, could be in and out.
“Son could go over to the right hand side, Sessegnon could play on the left. You need a squad to compete on three or four fronts. Competition for places is always vital.”
Sessegnon played 35 times for Fulham in their ill-fated return to the Premier League, the Cottagers suffering relegation back to the Championship.
Meanwhile, Moura played 49 times for Spurs across all competitions, 32 of those coming in the top flight, with 15 goals to his name.
