Exclusive: Fleetwood agree deal to sign 13 goal/assist midfielder on free transfer

Fleetwood Town are set to sign former Rochdale midfielder Callum Camps, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The 24-year-old is a free agent after his contract at Spotland expired on 30 June.

A source at Highbury Stadium has told Football Insider that Fleetwood have agreed a deal with the centre-midfielder.

Camps impressed for Rochdale last season, despite the League One club languishing to an 18th-placed finish.

He scored six goals and provided a further seven assists in his 28 league appearances.

The former Northern Ireland Under-20 international leaves Rochdale for the first time in his career having signed his first-ever professional contract with the club in 2013.

This site revealed on Sunday that former Rangers and Liverpool ace Jordan Rossiter had agreed to return to Joey Barton’s side on a permanent basis.

Barton already boasts an experienced midfield with Republic of Ireland international Glenn Whelan in his ranks.

The 36-year-old put pen to paper on a new one-year contract at Highbury after a successful six-month loan spell.

Fleetwood narrowly missed out on promotion to the Championship earlier this month after they lost 6-3 (on aggregate) to Wycombe Wanderers in the Play-Off Semi-finals.
