Norwich City have agreed a deal with Sevilla for midfielder Ibrahim Amadou and a medical has been scheduled, Football Insider understands.
Amadou, who can play in defensive midfield or central defence, has flown to England for talks and a medical with Norwich after they agreed a loan deal with an option to buy with Sevilla.
The 26-year-old joined Sevilla last summer from Lille, but he struggled to hold down a regular place in the side, making just seven starts in La Liga last season.
Sevilla are happy to loan him out as Amadou does not figure in their long-term plans going forward and a number of clubs across Europe have shown an interest in the former France youth international.
However, a Norwich source has told Football Insider that the club has moved quickly to agree a loan deal with Sevilla and Amadou is poised to join the Premier League new boys before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Amadou will become Norwich’s fourth signing of the summer and he could go straight into the squad for Friday’s Premier League opener against Liverpool.
In other Norwich City news, the club are considering bringing a former striker back to the club before Thursday.
