Exclusive: Wigan agree to sign striker from rivals, three-year deal penned today

EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke

Wigan are poised to sign Barnsley striker Kieffer Moore on a three-year deal, Football Insider understands.

Wigan agreed a fee in the region of £4million for Moore last week with the player given permission to hold talks and undergo a medical.

A Wigan source has now told Football Insider that those talks have been positive and that Moore is set to sign a three-year deal at the DW Stadium today.

Wigan boss Paul Cook has been determined to add much-needed firepower to his side before the close of the transfer window and it appears he is close to solving that problem with the signing of Moore.

Moore is regarded as one of the best strikers in the Football League after impressing at Barnsley last season.

The powerful forward scored 19 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions to help Barnsley secure promotion from League One to the Championship.

He struggled in the second half of the 17/18 Championship after his move from Ipswich, scoring just four goals in 20 league games as Barnsley were relegated.

Wigan will be hoping that he can reproduce last season’s form for them in the Championship.
