EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke
Wolves striker Niall Ennis has agreed the terms of a new three-year deal at the club, Football Insider understands.
Football Insider revealed yesterday that the 20-year-old is on the verge of joining Doncaster Rovers on loan along with team-mate Cameron John.
A Wolves source has told Football Insider that Wolves have moved to secure Ennis’ future before sanctioning his loan move to the Football League outfit.
The rising star’s new deal will see him remain at Molineux until 2022 and he will hope to catch the eye of Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo during his loan at Doncaster.
It is expected that the contract extension and loan move will be finalised imminently and then announced by the Premier League outfit.
Ennis is highly regarded at Molineux, doing enough for Nuno to hand him his debut for the club in an FA Cup replay against Shrewsbury last season.
Doncaster are in the market for a new striker after selling John Marquis to Portsmouth and Ennis will help fill the void at the Keepmoat Stadium.
The youngster, who has come through the ranks at Wolves to be capped by England at Under-19, Under-18s and Under-17s levels, had a spell out on loan at Shrewsbury in 2017 but his stint was cut short by serious injury.
He has battled back from two serious injuries in his career and he has been a regular scorer for Wolves’ Under-23s side.
In other Wolves news, it can be REVEALED that the club are plotting to sign another Portuguese sensation likened to Paul Pogba.
