Exclusive: Wycombe, Charlton & Rotherham in chase to sign Antony Evans
Charlton Athletic are among a cluster of Championship and League One clubs chasing ex-Everton star Antony Evans, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The 22-year-old currently plays in Germany with Bundesliga 2 side Paderborn, having left Everton 12 months ago.
However, potential suitors for the attacker have been put on alert after cuts at the German second-tier club.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Charlton are joined by Rotherham, Wycombe Wanderers, Wigan Athletic, Lincoln City and Shrewsbury Town in their pursuit of Evans this month.
Evans has played just 13 minutes of first team football this season and he has not made a matchday squad since October.
The attacking midfielder came through the ranks at Everton and signed his first professional contract for the club in October 2015.

However, he never made a senior appearance for the Toffees and was sent out on loan twice – to Morecambe and Blackpool respectively.
He played his best football for Everton’s Under-23s last season, his 12 appearances in Premier League 2 before Christmas yielded an impressive four goals and six assists.
Last January, the Liverpool-born attacker left Goodison Park in search of regular first team football and moved to German second-tier side Paderborn.
Evans made 10 appearances across all competitions for the German side in the 2019/20 campaign, scoring once as they were relegated from the Bundesliga.
Now an exit from Paderborn could be on the cards, just a year on from his arrival, as the German club look to balance the books in light of relegation and the Covid pandemic.
