'Send him on loan', 'Absolutely shocking' – Spurs fans fume at first-half of one man v Leicester

Tottenham have to beat Leicester today to secure third place in the league but things didn’t go to plan in the first-half of their final game at Wembley – and fans are furious with stand-in defender Kyle Walker-Peters.

Things started to go wrong before the kick-off as Jan Vertonghen was injured in the warm-up, leading to Victor Wanyama taking his place on the team sheet.

And it got even worse very quickly on Sunday afternoon as Jamie Vardy was left free to nod home in the fourth minute, with Walker-Peters seemingly marking two men.

Harry Kane – needing at least three goals to catch Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot – equalised for Spurs in the seventh minute after running through on goal.

But Riyad Mahrez, in possibly his last game for Leicester, put the visitors back in the lead in the 16th minute and fans blamed Walker-Peters for this goal too.

Meanwhile, Liverpool weren’t having it all their own way against Brighton, despite dominating play and getting refused a stonewall penalty, until Salah popped up with the opening goal midway through the first-half. Another goal from Dejan Lovren before half-time puts all the pressure on Spurs.

As it stands Liverpool will pip Spurs to third and the season will end in disappointment for Pochettino.
